Combining Forward & Reverse Logistics Back

  Data Protection Issues
Exporting Liabilities
Reverse Logistics logically takes a back seat to Forward Logistics, primarily because fine-tuning and adjustments will not have as much impact on the bottom line. This often means not enough time is spent addressing the reverse flow of IT and electronic equipment, resulting in exposure to disposal and data security liabilities if retirement services are not managed properly. It can be very difficult to understand the business of recycling and asset recovery due to overseas markets for processing and resale. You have the right to know where your materials are processed for recycling and to whom they are marketed for reuse. Without clarity about these downstream channels you may be opening a door to long-term liabilities.

Industry press once reported:  "If the manager who handles reverse logistics also handles forward logistics, that person will put most of the effort on the forward side," Stock says. Companies that don't have sufficient volume of returns to justify a full-time manager are good candidates for outsourcing.
