Hesstech Helps Educate Fans at the NBA's First CarbonNeutral Game
East Rutherford, NJ (April 1, 2008) – Hesstech was proud to be represented at the IZOD Center during the first CarbonNeutral basketball game in NBA history on April 1st, 2008.
At the final "Green Night" of the season, Hesstech President David Zimet was at the IZOD Center to educate basketball fans on the benefits of responsible electronics recycling and the risks of improper handling. Zimet and staff handed out information ranging from how to erase your hard drive and protect yourself from identity theft, to ways you can tell whether a electronics are properly recycled.
"Our mission here is to help people understand how to protect themselves and the environment" said Zimet.
In addition to distributing information, Hesstech also raffled off a refurbished laptop. The lucky fan will have the option for free recycling and trade-in credit toward an upgrade at any time.
The New Jersey Nets have begun a comprehensive "greening" program including hosting six "Green Nights" throughout the season. Each Green themed night focused on different Nets initiatives and what fans can do to aid the environment.
To become CarbonNeutral at the final "Green Night," the Nets eliminated their carbon footprint for the game by purchasing carbon credits. The carbon footprint for the game includes such items as the automobile travel of fans and staff and IZOD Center energy usage.
Hesstech looks forward to working further with the New Jersey Nets and all other organizations who want to help educate their fans or employees learn about environmentally responsible electronics recycling.
